Our "new" NCM van! Made possible by the grace of God through your generous support of this ministry! Our first trip was made on Saturday March 6th, 2010. We delivered sack lunches and clothing, scripture, prayer and compassion. We stopped under bridges and on roadways. We prayed and spent time with several hurting people. We even met up with other brothers and sisters in Christ out doing the same things! Want to join us in serving the Homeless and Kids in youth detention? Here are some needs we currently have. Email us with any questions. nor553@northlandcompassion.com Check out our NCM video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNH-w-A9V4s We are a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization. Tired of just sitting in the pew? Feeling less than satisfied with your Christian walk? We can help! Join us as we get out of the 4 walls of our Churches, and show compassion to the distressed and dispirited Many people think that the homeless are just reaping what they have sown. I wonder how these kids have "sown" so much, so early in their lives?
This is from John Piper. Ministry to the poor is not merely giving things. It is giving self. It's not just relief. It's relationship.
Our Youth Group after a hard night of making up bags for the homeless. Below is our Bible study class we hold every Tuesday at Set Free Church. This is a Christian based, transitional housing ministry.
In the meantime you can reach us at nor553@northlandcompassion.com I read In the book Externally Focused Church by Rick Rusaw something that goes along these lines. When unemployment reaches 7% we think of that as trouble in the economy. But "unemployment" in the Church runs 80%. We often have 20% of the people doing all the work. That is a paraphrase of what he said but I think it is very true. I also don't think it is because the 80% don't want to be doing anything. I think it is because as Rick also points out. They have not come to the intersection of their passion and purpose. Given enough chances in various ministries they will find as the scriptures say" The good works that God has prepared in advance for us to do." Then they will get busy with a passion and a purpose. We often keep them so busy "in" the Church and its 4 walls that they are burned out and hardly looking for anything else to do. So they might never come to that God Blessed intersection of passion and purpose. In brief, you should know the following about us: We are a Missouri non-profit corporation recognized as a Federal 501c3 Non-Profit corporation. All donations are tax deductible. We have several people who are involved in reaching those people who society in many ways has cast aside. We are currently reaching out to people who have found themselves homeless, incarcerated or hurting. We are working with incarcerated Teens trying to show them that we care, and more importantly that God cares. We are working in recovery programs and we are working with other non-profits to reach the homeless. We are not waiting for a once a year mission trip, we go on mission trips EVERY WEEK! They may be only a few miles away but they are mission trips! Come with us and see if you can find your passion and purpose! Come with us and lift up the name of Jesus! In Isaiah it says: And if you give yourself to the hungry And satisfy the desire of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness And your gloom will become like midday Isaiah 58:10 NASB The following pictures are with NCM volunteers working alongside of Feed the People ministries. We tag along with this great ministry and hand out items, pray with people and share our faith. Jerry Whisler of FTP has been instrumental in NCM reaching out to the hurting.
